Circa 1869, When Norman Troupe, a restless British Army Officer landed in Ranikhet, the universal human longing in him for a home immediately recognized the dreamland, and with an urgent spontaneity troupe set out to build that dream that had been haunting him all his life. A home for himself and a place where his friends would frequently love to come.

The Hole Farm was originally built by Norman Troupe. The name Holm comes from William Holmes who was Troupe's friend and an expert Tea Gardener who helped him develop a beautiful tea garden in his estate the remains of which still exist in its vicinity. During the Raj period this bungalow was owned by personalities like Mohd. Amin, F. C. Banyon, Catherine Abbot and from 1947 onwards by Pt. Madan Mohan Upadhyaya, a veteran freedom- fighter and a lawyer of National fame. This historic bungalow has had the  privilege of hosting personalities like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Lord & Lady Mount Batton, Acharya Narendra Dev, Ambassadors of various country and many Film & Television persoanlities as guests.

Facing the magnificence of the sacred Himalayas and encompassing an enchanting sprawl of 13-acre virgin orchard, the Holm Farm Heritage is an incredible combination of traditional and the modern.

A Mere 10 minutes drive along a zig zag jungle road from Ranikhet town leads you to this Majestic Bungalow which has six comfortable suites and a museum like lobby with pinewood floor, ceiling, century old hand painted wall paper, an antique piano, colonial furniture and much more which itself tells the remaining story of the bungalow.
